This family pool in Casula proves that a great backyard does not always need a huge block. With only a small amount of usable yard available before a sewer line, the design needed to be clever, practical and carefully planned from the start.
The home had just 1 metre of usable backyard space, so the team looked at the side yard as the best opportunity. Instead of treating the tight layout as a limitation, the pool was shaped around the space available, creating a 7m x 3.5m family-friendly pool that feels natural, private and easy to use.
Designed for a young family, the pool includes a depth range from 1.1m to 1.8m, giving it the flexibility to suit relaxed play, cooling off and everyday swimming. The curved layout softens the space, while the surrounding paving, fencing and garden outlook help the pool sit comfortably within the home rather than feeling squeezed in.
As part of the custom pool design in Sydney, every detail had to work hard. Access, planning, sewer line limitations and long-term usability all shaped the outcome. The result is a pool that feels seamless from the patio area, with enough room around it for seating, entertaining and day-to-day family life.
Built in 2019 and recently part of a successful home sale, this project also shows the long-term value of thoughtful pool construction in Sydney. A well-planned pool can add lifestyle appeal now, and buyer appeal later, especially when the design makes smart use of a challenging block.
What makes this pool stand out is how natural it feels in the finished space. The layout follows the shape of the yard, the paved surrounds keep everything clean and practical, and the private setting gives the family a calm place to unwind without needing a large backyard.
